『The Newspaper』がアルル国際写真祭ブックアワード2026 最終候補作品に選出されました
このたび、小原一真と森旭彦による写真集『The Newspaper』が、フランス・アルルで開催されるアルル国際写真祭（Les Rencontres d’Arles）ブックアワード2026「Photo-Text」部門の最終候補作品（Shortlist）に選出されました。
2026年は世界各国から852冊の写真集が応募され、その中から選出された128冊が最終候補作品として発表されました。これらの作品は、会期中、アルル国際写真祭内のブックアワード展示会場にて紹介されます。
『The Newspaper』は、140年以上の歴史を持つ京都新聞の印刷・流通の現場を記録したプロジェクトです。編集、印刷、配送に至るまで、新聞が人々の手に届くまでの過程を取材し、一冊の写真集として再構成しました。13部の独立した新聞を一冊に束ねる構成によって、情報が物質として存在し、人の手によって届けられるという新聞メディアの特性を表現しています。
本書は、写真家・小原一真と文筆家・森旭彦による共同制作として、2026年に刊行されました。
アルル国際写真祭は1970年に創設された世界有数の写真祭であり、ブックアワードは国際的な写真出版の動向を紹介する重要なプログラムのひとつです。

The Newspaper Selected for the Shortlist of the 2026 Les Rencontres d’Arles Book Awards
We are pleased to announce that The Newspaper, a photobook by Kazuma Obara and Akihiko Mori, has been selected for the shortlist of the 2026 Les Rencontres d’Arles Photo-Text Awards in France.
For the 2026 edition, 852 books were submitted from around the world. Among them, 128 titles were selected for the official shortlist and will be presented throughout the festival in the dedicated Book Awards exhibition space.
The Newspaper documents the production and distribution processes of the Kyoto Shimbun, one of Japan’s oldest newspapers with a history spanning more than 140 years. Through photographs and texts, the project follows the journey of information—from editorial work and printing to physical delivery—exploring the material and human infrastructure that enables news to reach its readers.
The publication consists of thirteen individual newspapers bound together as a single volume, reflecting the physical nature of printed media and the act of information being carried by hand from one person to another.
The Newspaper was published in 2026 as a collaboration between photographer Kazuma Obara and writer Akihiko Mori.
